GetonaMap.com is owned and operated by Killarney On-Line Ltd., which was founded in 1996. Laura Tangney and Stephen O'Sullivan are both Directors and equal shareholders in the company. Laura has a background in the hospitality and tourism industry and brings thousands of visitors to region each year through her other business interests. Her company has received national awards of excellence in the sector 3 years running. Stephen's background is in the media sector in both graphic design and web development. His business portfolio includes a successful online business with over 6,000 clients. His work has also been nominated on nine occasions for national website awards.
In 2010 the company decided to move away from the affiliate model of selling accommodation, to developing their own reservation and inventory management system and thus creating direct partnerships with accommodation and tour providers. The first tourism website launched in March 2011 under the new business model was KillarneyonaMap.ie. This website is specific to the Killarney destination and marketed online as a complete source for up-to-date information, listings and accommodation deals.
We plan to launch three more destination websites shortly for Kenmare, Tralee and Dingle. We are also launching an iPhone© and iPad© app and these will be available to download for free from iTunes©. These apps will have all the great features including accommodation and tour booking facilities for each of the destination websites. From this stage then in the company business plan, we are developing ten more destination websites over the following two years.
